El Viejo, Nicaragua

A sanctuary for the soul in the heart of nature

TheExperience

Come along with Leanne to northern Nicaragua where we will return to the simplicity and purity of the natural world. A place where we can let nature nurture our soul.

Nicaragua holds a special place in Leanne's heart, it was her home during one of her yoga training, personal travel, and was also the country she led her first large international retreat. There is something about the land here that gives you the permission to return to your roots and find balance in the arms of Mother Earth.

Leanne has been leading retreats since 2016 and to this day she remains rooted in her intention behind each one. To attend one of Leanne's retreat is to be apart of more than just a yoga retreat, her hope is to facilitate more of a healing space for you to find a deeper connection with yourself, your life and the world around you. Through the classes, ceremonies, openness, connection, food, nature and everything in between, it gives us the opportunity to find healing and liberation.

Each retreat begins from a place of intention and is built from the ground up. From all the organizing behind the scenes, to the venue, the team, the food, the theme, the ceremonies & classes. It is all so thoughtfully curated by Leanne and is the most miraculous feeling to see it all come to life.

When taking part in a Drift Yoga Retreat you are being invited to do so with an open heart and open mind. When you attend one of these retreats we ask that you participate in more than just the physical aspect of the practice but step fully into the journey of a deeper healing experience. This is where all the magic happens!

My hope for you during this Nicaragua retreat is for you to have the ability to fully immerse yourself in the tapestry of the natural world around you. To allow yourself to unplug from the daily noise and allow natures symphony to awaken your soul.

This retreat is for those who desire:

  • Deep connections with inspiring, like minded souls from around the world

  • Exploring the healing powers of movement, breath work and connection

  • Being apart of an open, non-judgmental and inviting community

  • Lots of time for adventure, laughter, play & deep rest

  • Rituals that you can incorporate into your everyday to bring more meaning & joy into your life

  • Rising with the sun, sleeping with the moon, riding the waves of the ocean and sinking your bare feet into Mother Earth

  • Connecting back to the wisdom that nature provides us

Are you ready?!

Hi, I'm Leanne! The owner of Drift Yoga and your retreat leader. I have been instructing yoga for 10 years and leading these retreats since 2016. The creation and leading of these retreats was always a dream of mine and has no doubt become my passion. To have the opportunity to create a space where a group of like-minded souls can come together, practice yoga, meditate, laugh, connect and find joy in their lives again, means the world to me!

Whether you are beginning your journey into yoga or a seasoned practitioner, my teaching style will provide you with the guidance to get exactly what you need from each practice.

It is suggested that you are familiar with basic Sun Salutations and a Vinyasa based practice. However, there will be plenty of variations and modifications offered to help everyone feel welcome in our practices. There will be opportunities to challenge yourself and most importantly feel supported and loved along the way!

xo Leanne

Meet our beautiful & adventurous photographer, Becca!

Becca instantly became a valued part of our retreat family a few years ago when she stepped into this position. Her contagious laugh and wild spirit ripples through the group as she captures the most beautiful memories of your journey.

"My name is Becca and I am a travel, adventure and portraiture photographer based out of Cranbrook, BC. My passions of life include anything that sparks joy and excitement in my soul. Whether it’s hiking, mountain biking, travelling - you name it. And of course, my passion burns strong for capturing all the emotions and core memories that this life has to offer. As a photographer, I aim to snap shot and save all the beautiful moments, as it comes so fast and sudden, so we can hold on for as long as we want. Throughout this retreat I will be capturing all the big and the small and all you have to do is sit and soak in the moment. I can’t wait to connect with you and share this beautiful space with you! "

FAQ

Are all the meals vegetarian? Yes! With the exception of eggs in the morning, everything is vegetarian. All your food will be sourced from the Salty Farm, Salty Gardens or the local market. Still Salty ensures you will be nourished from the inside out.

Do you cater to dietary requirments? Absolutely! All of the offerings at Still Salty are within the vegetarian category, but they are happy to prepare GF, low sugar, SOS, etc. Please be descriptive in your dietary needs so we can prepare appropriately.

Are there safes in the rooms? There are no safes in the rooms. However, our group will have exclusivity to the property and they have 24hr security. If you wish to take extra precaution, purchsing a portable safe can be a great option to store laptops, phones, passports, money, etc.

Are toiletries provided? No. Please bring your own shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, sunscreen, etc. (preferably environmentally friendly).

What airport do I fly into? Managua Airport.

Are yoga mats provided? Yes! I am pleased to say that our venue is equipped with top of the line yoga mats & equipment from Alo. You will be well supported!

How far is it from the airport? It is about a 3.5 - 4hr drive from Managua Aiport. We will arrange all your transportation upon arrival and departure. Transportation costs are included in your retreat package.

How close is the ocean? Yes, the beach is within walking distance. The closest structure is 20min from the high tide line.

Are gratuities included? Gratuities are not included in this retreat. It is up to you on how much or if you wish to provide the staff with tips. A suggested gratuity per guest would be $20/day that gets dispersed to all the staff members. I also suggest bringing extra gratuity for cab drivers, excursions, massages, etc.

What is the weather like in Nicaragua? There are two seasons in Nicaragua (wet & dry). Wet season is May - November, and dry season is December - May. It is hot year around, but the humidity varies.

How much money should I bring? Our venue is CASH ONLY. Depending on how many extra activities, massages, drinks or snacks you plan on purchasing, I would plant bring $200 - $300 cash. Your driver from the airport can also stop at a local ATM if you wish to get the local currency.

How close is the surfing beach? There is a wave right out front called Rocky Point, which is a bit more advanced. Otherwise, Nahualapa Bay is only a 5 minute walk where you can enjoy consistent beginner friendly waves.

What currency should I bring? USD and Cordobas are accpeted everywhere.

What should I pack? • Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity) • Swimsuit • Sarong • Rashguard for surfing • Sandals • Sneakers (if participating in hiking) • Light long pants • Light long sleeve shirt • Reef-safe sunscreen and zinc • Deet-free bug spray • Cortisone for bug bites • Yoga clothes you feel most comfortable in for hot weather • We will have Alo yoga mats and blocks on site for use, but if you prefer your own mat make sure to pack • Reusable water bottle • Hat • Toiletries • Book for downtime • Medications • Cash for your tourist visa ($10), massages, extra activities, tips, and any extra spending money for drinks, snacks, city visits. The nearest ATM is 40 minutes away. Both USD and Cordobas are accepted everywhere. * For your room, we’ve got you covered with sheets, pillows, blanket, and towels. * The weather during the day is hot, but at night it can sometimes cool down, so we recommend packing a long sleeve shirt or light sweatshirt.
